Incredible String Band Tour

incredible string band

Way back when in the 1960's one of my favourite groups was and continues to be the Incredible String Band. Not many others like them, other than maybe the Holy Modal Rounders. Today reading Boing Boing I found out they are doing a reunion tour this fall. Wouldn't you know it, the day there here in Alexandria, VA at the Birchmere I'll be in Austin, TX. Hmmm, mebbe I'll have to drive up to Pittsburgh, PA for the show Oct 22nd.

Call for donations

Folks, my daughter is running a triathalon for the Lukemia and Lymphoma Society, and she still needs to raise $2000. You can donate at her Team in Training site. Every little bit helps -- her and the cancer patients. By the way, I've copied most of this post from her sister's blog. Thanks Megan.

Dvorak's Top 10

Top 10 Most Important Software Programs

This article includes Dvorak's top ten .. software programs that were either the most successful or the most innovative in the modern era of desktop computing (1976 to the present).

It's comforting to me to see some of my olde favourites listed like VisiCalc, Word Star, and dBase III -- all three I ran on an Apple ][ with a 64K CPM card and 126K 5.25" diskettes removable media. Ah, those were the days.

GTD - David Allen

David Allen Getting Things Done: Time and stress management... how to be more productive and get the most out of your time and life

This system is popping up all over the net. I've noticed a number of people have developed GTD systems for emacs, TinderBox, and other GUI's. So, I bought the book and now to read it and understand better -- then figure out how to use it to do the work smarter thing.
