Capitol Hill Blue: Role reversal: Bush wants war, Pentagon urges caution

"We have a dangerous role reversal here" one Pentagon source tells Capitol Hill Blue. "The civilians [nb: rumsfeld and regime] are urging war and the uniformed officers are urging caution."

...

An angry Rumsfeld, who backs Bush without question, is said to have told the Joint Chiefs to get in line or find other jobs. Bush is also said to be "extremely angry" at what he perceives as growing Pentagon opposition to his role as Commander in Chief.

"The President considers this nation to be at war," a White House source says," and, as such, considers any opposition to his policies to be no less than an act of treason."

"Worst President Ever"

Daily Breeze - Doubting (Helen) Thomas offers her press veteran's take on state of presidency

"... She seemed to have sympathy and affection for everyone but George W. Bush, a man who she said is rising on a wave of 9-11 fear %u2014 fear of looking unpatriotic, fear of asking questions, just fear. %u201CWe have,%u201D she said, %u201Clost our way.%u201D

Thomas believes we have chosen to promote democracy with bombs instead of largess while Congress %u201Cdefaults,%u201D Democrats cower and a president controls all three branches of government in the name of corporations and the religious right.

As she signed my program, I joked, "You sound worried."

"This is the worst president ever," she said. "He is the worst president in all of American history."

2nd Annual ArtBots in NYC

ArtBots: The Robot Talent Show

"... ArtBots is an international art exhibition for robotic art and art-making robots. No firm rules exist on the types of work that can be submitted; if you think it's a robot and you think it's making art, then it's an art-making robot. About fifteen submissions will be selected for participation in the show. The show will run for two days (saturday and sunday) with all artists in attendance. Selected works will remain installed during the rest of the week as part of EYEBEAM's summer robotics festivities.

The first ArtBots show took place in May, 2002, and included the work of ten artists and groups. Nearly six hundred people visited the show during its one day run, and the show received very positive coverage in many print and online publications in the USA and internationally, including The New York Times, TimeOutNY, BoingBoing.net, and the NASA's Cool Robot of the Week site. You can access extensive documentation of the show and participants at: http://artbots.org/2002 ..."

Here are some pics of rovOR posted at the Disco Web site. The first one is an example of how four wheel drive can help slip into abandoned parking spots in an other wise crowded DC Metro parking lot. It was snowing the entire 4.5 hours of this return trip. Amazing!

stigmergy

Bitworking

"... The World-Wide Web is human stigmergy. The web and it's ability to let anyone read anything and also to write back to that environment allows stigmeric communication between humans. Some of the most powerful forces on the web today, Google and weblogs are fundamentally driven by stigmeric communication and their behaviour follows similar natural systems like Ant Trails and Nest Building that are accomplished using stigmergy. The web is new. In the context of written human history is barely a blink of an eye. Yet as new as the web is, it is already showing it's ability to support complex human interactions that mimic natural systems use of stigmergy. And were just getting started... ..."
