don't miss it til it's gone

Funny how I've been ranting and capturing links to information about the current regime's activities to reduce our personal rights and liberties. The political sort of thing. Well, this weekend I ran into a technological version.... the control key (CTRL) went out on my laptop.

Little did I realize how often I type CTRL-C then CTRL-V to copy and paste URL's and other info from one window to the next. Nor did I realize that many of my apps using pop up windows don't have explicit access to drop down menus -- only keyboard controls. This means that I can't copy-paste into these little windows.

Fortunately IBM repairs is sending me a replacement keyboard up here in the Blue Ridge mountains. Unfortunately I am not sure how to replace the current regime as easily!!

On that note --- Happy Holidays & Best Wishes for a Safe and Beneficient New Year (GregORian Calender wise)

GHB, you might be able to re-map some of the keyboard settings in XP. (You know, re-map the ScrLk key to Ctrl...) If that is not possible, try setting up an additional input language on your machine. You will then be able to bring up a software keyboard. You can mouse-select the control key until the new one works. :) Happy holidays to you from Michigan. We got 3 inches of snow over night, so we woke to a (surprising) white xmas. Hope you and the fam are enjoying the hols. - Charles and Kristine Posted by: tcy on December 25, 2002 06:04 PM
